The patented Thermo‐Perch helps protect your exotic birds from the harmful effects of air conditioning and cold drafts. Cold is a major contributor to health problems for exotic birds, and providing warmth is the first step that avian experts and veterinarians turn to. Thermostatically controlled, Thermo‐Perch provides a safe, consistent source of warmth, stabilizing the birdʹs environment. Made of sturdy scratch and bite resistant plastic, Thermo‐Perch attaches easily to wire cages. Its irregular shape reduces foot cramps and pressure sores, providing orthopedic benefits.

The Thermo-Perch may be cleaned with a damp cloth or paper towel. DO NOT immerse in water.
If disinfecting is required, lightly mist the Thermo-Perch with disinfecting solution and wipe dry. Take care not to mist the area where the cord enters the perch.
The Thermo-Perch is not intended to be the only perch in a cage. Your bird will choose when it needs warmth, and there should always be at least one other non-heated perch to use.
Testing Your Thermo-Perch
You can test the Thermo-Perch by placing it between two pillows for about 20 minutes. Then feel the perch. It should be warm, not hot.
Is the temperature of the Thermo-Perch adjustable?
While not adjustable, the temperature of the Thermo-Perch varies from one end to the other. This allows birds to choose an area that feels comfortable to them.
Is it ok to apply a single layer of medical sticking plaster such as elastoplast to the heated perch for added grip?
Our perches are designed to be used as they are and it is not safe to wrap material around them. The plastic has a textured faux woodgrain pattern that gives the Thermo-Perch added grip. With the regular Thermo-Perch, generally there is an adjustment period, especially with small birds. They may fall off a few times at first, but they learn to use the grooves in the perch in a short period of time.
I see the electric cord has a spaced wire wrap around it. Is there a hard plastic conduit under the wire yet covering the cord or does the wire wrap cover only the electric cord?
There is not a hard plastic conduit covering the cord. If you are concerned about your birds biting through the electric cord while outside the cage, we recommend running it through PVC pipe for added protection.
How long is the cord?
The cord is 6.5 feet long.
General Questions about Indoor Heated Products
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
Temporary use of a UL listed cord is fine, but consult your electrician for the proper cord for your application. For more information on MET safety testing, please visit their website atwww.metlabs.com.
How long can a heated product be plugged in?
MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards. For more information, please visitwww.metlabs.com.
Is there an off/on switch?
There is not an off/on switch. The perch is always on when plugged in.
