My Rewards organic sprouting mix, makes it so easy to feed your flock fresh microgreens, year round.
One of the healthiest and easiest things you can do for your precious bird, (and for you too) is offer fresh sprouts daily.
Ingredients:
Adzuki beans
Garbanzo beans (chick peas)
Lentils
Green Peas
(Human grade, organic product)
Nutrition at its best!
Instructions:
Place 2-3 tbsp. seed in a clean, glass jar, or use sprouting trays.
Soak overnight or 8-12 hrs.
Drain after your seeds have soaked for the designated number of hours, and rinse with fresh water.
Shake out excess water and place your jar at a 45 degree angle in a dark area, away from sun. Place a well ventilated mesh cover on jar as air circulation is crucial to sprouts.
Do not allow your seeds to sit in standing water, in the jar. Always shake excess water out of jar and rinse with fresh water every few hours.
We, at Chirp N Dale's find the key to successful sprouts is, rinse, rinse, rinse, shake, shake, shake! The more often, the better.
When you see a little "tail" emerge, let it grow ideally to the length of the seed itself, to feed your birds.
At this length, the sprout is at its utmost nutritional stage. It is now a powerhouse of nutrition!
You can let them grow longer, but we find the birds seem to enjoy them better at this stage and tend to snip off and waste the long shoots, and eat the seed itself.
Sprouts can be fed daily. Store extra in the fridge and feed within 3 days, for optimum freshness.
